Well I'm here to tell you there is a way. And I've created a step by step system to show you how.
Making Field Puppy Nation over the past 8 years was not easy. Before I even started it, I wanted to be the best I could be in the science of positive reinforcement training. Getting certified at the Karen Pryor Academy and spending years studying Susan Garrett's gamified approach to training dog sports, gave me the foundations I needed. Not to mention spending 13 years getting to know every level and layer of the Hunt Test and Field Trial games.
And it worked! Field Puppy started when I brought home an 8-week-old Golden puppy named Reggie. He was my first real test case of raising and training a puppy in the Field Puppy Nation system. Together we mastered steadiness, honoring, delivery to hand, blind retrieve handling and amazing water honesty! All with positive training.
At the age of 5, he successfully ran as test dog for all 6 series of the Master National Hunt Test. The next summer he earned his first AKC Master HT ribbon and an AKC Field Trial Qualifying stake ribbon. The truth, Reggie is not a super star dog, born to win. He didn't even care about marks until he was about 18 months old. He seemed to hate bumpers, and he had a short attention span for field drills. Using our gamified techniques are what got him to success. And no matter what style of dog you have, YOU can do it, too!
